These two waters, which are joined together by a narrow channel, provide some first class fishing for what some consider are the prettiest carp in the country. We estimate that there are at least 30 different thirties in the water and nine of these have been caught at over 37lb in weight. With the exception of four commons all these thirties are mirrors and include some fully scaled fish. There are at least another 150 twenties in the water and in 2006 Linear introduced over 100 selected carp from the exclusive Elstow strain and some of these fish have been recorded in 2007 at between 15 and 21lb in weight. A further 282 very pretty fish of around double figures were introduced in 2007 and these more than compensated for the small losses that may have occurred during the flooding; it is Linear’s policy to continue with stocking more carp in the future.

In addition to the carp, the waters also hold some tremendous fish of other species. In past years there have been pike caught to over 31lb, bream over 14lb, tench to 9lb plus, and roach to 3.15.

There is no drinking water on the site but if you are staying for any length of time there is a store only a few minutes away in Stanton Harcourt where they will not only replenish your food stocks but supply you with drinking water. Alternatively, Roy Parsons, the Head Bailiff, if he is not busy, will fill your water container for you.
