Gweryd (12½ acres: 5 Ha), a natural spring fed lake, provides excellent carp fishing. It is now regarded as one of the leading Carp waters in Wales and is regularly reported in the angling press. Rob Hughes recently featured Llyn Gweryd on the Carp Show on Sky (see photo right). It has also provided a finalist to the Angling Times Nash Masters competition each year.

Llyn Gweryd contains good size carp:

Mirror Carp to 27 lbs
Common Carp to 26lbs
Ghost Carp to 20 lbs
There is a very large head of Carp in the lake and at least 15 over 20lbs plus 50 high doubles, 200 low doubles and numerous singles. The average weight for a Carp caught is currently 13 lbs.

Llyn Gweryd has 18 all weather bivvy pegs plus a further 22 pegs. All are easily accessible from the three car parks. A number are suitable for disabled anglers.

Day, 24 hour and longer stay tickets are available. Carp fishing is restricted to a maximum of 20 pegs/ anglers at any one time on Llyn Gweryd, so it is important to book to avoid disappointment.

And then there is Lyn Louis a ¾ acre (0.4 Ha) lake containing Carp to 10lbs. It is ideal for those starting into Carp fishing.

All the back-up facilities you need are on site. Tackle, bait and information are available from the shop. An excellent choice of food, from take away snacks to full meals is available from the café. There are toilet facilities on both banks of Llyn Gweryd. Showers and drying facilities are located in the shop complex.

Winter overnight Carp matches are run between November and March. Coaching sessions are also run throughout the year, which provide the opportunity to learn new techniques or for beginners to learn the basics. See the news page for details.

Comments

  1. I fished Gweryd in September and had a decent 48hour session. Caught numerous Carp and Tench as well as a 2 1/2 pound Perch. For my first visit I had 8 fish out all together. Oh and I'm from Liverpool, so "scouse" and I like fishing not making noise all night. So don't tar everyone with the same brush, even if you are obviously ignorant.

  2. I totally disagree with the adverse comments I have read about Gweryd. What total rubbish re netting and selling off stock!! It is very well stocked with a great variety of fish including a large head of carp. I have fished the lake 4 times in the last 3 weeks and have caught over 30 carp up to 18lb. I also caught a 4lb 2oz perch. At this time of the year the fish are much more ready to take pre-drilled hard pellets such as Robin Red and betaine pellets in preference to boilies.
Give it a try and change your approach and you will be well rewarded.

  3. I've been there 2 seasons now, NEVER GOING AGAIN... sick of the pegs that haven't been improved for years, sick of the lack of care from the owners, sick of getting hardly any Carp, speaking to someone recently thay said @apparently@ they had netted it and sold the big head of carp !, i'm thinking it's more than a rumour now.. Went last weekend and counted 19 Bivvy's and over 75 lines in, NO ONE was catching. Have tried all methods, all weathers and my best was 18lb, this was after lots of weekends of catching bream and small tench. It needs a few Pike in their and money spending on putting Carp in it...

  6. I had a day fishing in April and whilst the fishing was a little tough, there were still bites to be made. Ended up with about 20lb of small bream and roach to 1 1/2lbs

Its quiet and peaceful and perhaps those who had a poor day should have taken an extra lesson in english
