Carp Venues in the UK & France

Linear Fisheries

The Linear Oxfordshire fisheries have been a runaway success. There are more and more anglers visiting us than ever before and in 2006 we opened up the two Brasenose Lakes to provide even more excellent fishing. By many, we are now considered to be the best run and most popular carp fishery in the country and this is enhanced not only by the fish that are there to be caught, the excellent waters and their beautiful surroundings but also by the friendliness of the Linear Bailiff team. In 2006 for the second year running Linear was presented with The Best Day Ticket Venue Award by DHP Magazines which was voted for by their readers.

There are eight day ticket waters at Linear Oxford and there is no limit to the time anglers can spend on them. Although referred to as the day ticket waters these lakes can be fished throughout the day and night and for any period of time - there is no close season. At present, to rest the water, Hunts Corner Lake is closed but is expected to be open again by June 2009.

Tickets are available from the Linear Bailiffs who patrol the waters regularly. It is permitted to start fishing and pay the bailiff when he visits your swim. Fishing on all these waters is open to everyone, all the year round. The tickets are transferable and anglers can move between waters on the same ticket.

There is a shower and toilet block situated between St. Johns and Manor Farm Lakes on the main Hardwick site. There are also toilets on all the lakes and in the Hardwick/Smiths car park, but no drinking water. Water can be obtained from our Head Bailiff if he is not too busy and you have a water container. Alternatively water can be obtained from the nearby grocers shop in the village of Stanton Harcourt, along with provisions. Linear rules are sensible and can be found here, in our brochure and on our main notice boards.

The syndicate waters are open for all to join and like the day ticket waters they continue to improve. There are waiting lists for the main two syndicates and details of these are contained on this website. Because they have become so popular and membership numbers are limited there is a waiting list for both the Guy Lakes and Hunts Corner Lake - currently it could take up to two years before anyone is invited.
